TV Program: Secrets of the Dead: Death at Jamestown

The first British colony in the New World was Jamestown. The people who braved the unknown to found the colony were looking for wealth and adventure, but within six months, 80 of the original 100 were dead. Common theory blames the deaths on malaria or other fatal diseases. This episode unearths new evidence of disease, starvation, warfare, and even poison. Was the death at Jamestown the result of bad planning, bad luck, or a sinister plot to sabotage the colony?
