Endorsed by NCTM, this series supports the national mathematics, science and technology standards. Each episode of NASA Connect includes a lesson, a teacher guide, a student activity or experiment, and web-based component.  
 
The goal of NASA CONNECT is to:  
 
* present mathematics and science as a process requiring creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills;  
* demonstrate work place mathematics and science as a collaborative process; raise awareness of careers requiring mathematics and science;  
* overcome stereotyped beliefs by presenting women and minorities performing challenging engineering and science tasks.  
 
Teachers are encouraged to register for NASA CONNECT, which is free. Registration is open to all educators in public, private, and parochial schools; homeschoolers, and parents/caregivers who desire to increase scientific literacy and improve math, science, and technology competencies of upper elementary and middle school students.  
 
By registering, educators receive the NASA CONNECT programs delivered via television and the Internet and corresponding teacher (lesson) materials for each program. Educators are encouraged to tape the broadcast and copy the teacher (lesson) materials that include student and web-based activities. Also, educators may request an AIAA student mentor to assist in completing the student activity through e-mail or direct classroom participation.
