Vance Kirkland's Visual Language This one-hour documentary focuses on the life and work of the acclaimed Colorado painter whose work is being compared to that of the great 20th century American and European master. Kirkland's career spanned decades – and several art genres. He first gained renown as a representational painter, but later turned to surrealism and abstract art. The program uses a skillful combination of classical music, expert analysis, private recollections from friends and family members as well as rare footage of Kirkland himself. The result is an informative story of an artist whose achievements are attracting increasing popular recognition and critical acclaim.
