Each year, hundreds of zoo babies are born at the Denver Zoo or Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (Colorado Springs), but some of their mothers aren't able to nurture them.  

These babies are then entirely dependent on human "parents" – zoo professionals who are experts in hand-raising the tiny animals until they are ready to rejoin their own kind. This careful work at Colorado zoos becomes part of an international mosaic, under the American Zoo and Aquarium Association's "Species Survival Plan."
