Austin Green Remodel Project, Part 4/Replacing Shu
In the first half of The "This Old House Hour", host Kevin O'Connor welcomes plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey to the "Live Music Capital of the World" with a visit to the legendary Continental Club – home of live rockabilly, swing, and country music since 1957. The next morning, builder Bill Moore shows Kevin the progress, and how sons Sam and David are helping out with demo in the first floor bath. Up on the roof, Richard finds solar contractor Andrew McCalla and his crew beginning to mount the modules that will make up a 2. 45kw solar array providing 40% of the power needed for the new house. In the second half of the Hour, on Ask This Old House, Richard helps a homeowner replace a corroded shut-off valve with a new one that doesn't require any soldering. Then Richard, along with Kevin, landscape contractor Roger Cook, and general contractor Tom Silva, ask "What is it?" in the loft. Afterward, Roger heads out on a House call to help a homeowner select and plant the proper rose bushes so they will climb a two-rail fence.
