Globe Trekker
Southeast Usa
Megan McCormick travels to the sultry southern states of the Carolinas, Georgia and Virginia, full of antebellum history, African-American culture and varied natural environments. In Virginia, Megan learns about the state's colonial past in Jamestown and Yorktown before trekking a section of the Appalachian Trail. She overnights at a Civil War adventure camp and has a wild time at Virginia's State Fair. In North Carolina, Megan goes beachcombing along the windy Outer Banks, drives along the stunning Blue Ridge Parkway and meets Cherokee Indians. Next it's on to South Carolina, where she tours the plantations of Charleston, discovers the former-slave culture of Gullah and tries "shagging," a dance popular in the 1950s. Megan finishes her journey in Georgia, where she visits a peanut festival and a sea baptism.
