Florida and the Bahamas
Lavinia Tan starts her travels in Florida, one of the world's most popular tourist destinations, a place with the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States. She samples the sights of Miami, including the Cuban Calle Ocho street party, South Beach's art nouveau architecture and the striking Holocaust Memorial. From there she goes scuba diving in the Florida Keys and visits Ernest Hemingway's home before traveling to Cape Canaveral for an out-of-this-world experience at John F. Kennedy Space Center. Lavinia's next stop is Orlando, where she visits Disney World and Celebration, Disney's very own planned community. Then it's on to St. Augustine, America's oldest town, resplendent with Spanish colonial architecture, before experiencing a real contrast at Daytona Beach's Bike Week. In the Everglades, Lavinia meets the Seminole Indians and watches alligator wrestling. She finishes up in the Bahamas where she takes a mini-submarine to a World War II wreck, dives with sharks and kayaks through a tropical nature reserve.
