KRMJ Analog Transmitter is Down

(GRAND JUNCTION, CO.- January 2, 2008) – The Rocky Mountain PBS' KRMJ analog transmitter on Blackridge Mountain experienced a major failure on New Year's Eve at approximately 6pm. Engineers are assessing the severity of the problem and advise over-the-air viewers to install a TV converter box today. Rocky Mountain PBS digital stations are available on 18.1, 18.2, and 18.3.

"With the analog shut-down only 45 days away, it may not be a wise use of membership dollars to make extensive repairs to a nearly obsolete transmitter," said Rocky Mountain PBS engineer, Joe McGee.

TV Converter boxes are for sale at local retailers including Kmart, Wal-Mart, Sears, Target and Best Buy. Complete information about the digital TV transition is available at rmpbs.org/dtv and dtv2009.gov.
