Rocky Mountain PBS and Denver Public Schools are collaborating to provide online professional development through PBS TeacherLine courses for all teachers.
All DPS ProComp teachers may enroll in a PBS TeacherLine course and use it as the basis for developing their "online personal PDU." The following information is provided to help you register with PBS TeacherLine and then submit the necessary paper work to the DPS Pro Comp office.
First, browse the
TeacherLine course catalog and choose an online course that you wish to take as the core of your Professional Development Unit (PDU) for the 2008-09 school year. Courses are offered in Reading/Language Arts, Science, Mathematics, Instructional Technology and Instructional Strategies. ProComp teachers who want to complete a personal PDU must register for TeacherLine course by February 15, 2009 and all work must be completed by May 15, 2009.
The course tuition is $199 per six-week course. When enrolling in a course, please enter the Promo Code
dpsteach1 when you see a green Promo Code box and be sure to use your district e-mail address throughout the course. You will pay the registration fee to PBS TeacherLine. Please print a receipt when you register. You can choose to be reimbursed through the DPS ProComp office OR you may
apply to receive a $100 reimbursement from the Colorado Department of Education.
DPS teachers who are not part of ProComp may take any TeacherLine course and receive a $100 tuition reimbursement from the Colorado Department of Education. After registering with PBS TeacherLine, fill out CDE's
Intent to Enroll form to be eligible for the tuition reimbursement program.
Please read eligibility requirements before applying for reimbursement. The CDE program is only available to teachers who pay the TeacherLine tuition with personal funds and will NOT be receiving a reimbursement of any amount from their school or district. Download a copy of the
Personal PDU Proposal Form (.doc) and guidelines from DPS ProComp as well as how the TeacherLine course elements can be applied to your PDU. Read the guidelines and then replace the text with your proposal.
