Are all courses online?
Yes. Although the course catalog is sorted by state, there is no physical classroom for you to travel to. Courses are conducted online, so you "attend" classes via your computer from your home, your classroom, or your district computer lab. Courses usually run on a six-week schedule, and while there are no specific 'classroom hours,' you will follow a weekly schedule that is set by your facilitator.
Who teaches the courses?
A facilitator is an educator who guides participants through a PBS TeacherLine course. Since our courses are designed to be community-based learning experiences, the course facilitator is there to assist you, encourage enlightening dialogue between you and your peers, and evaluate your work in order to provide valuable feedback. PBS TeacherLine course facilitators have a Master's Degree in Education or a related field of study, as well as subject matter certification and expertise. All facilitators have completed a rigorous training course in online facilitation skills.
What's the difference between a national course and one being offered in my state or region?
When a course is offered in your state or region, most other participants will live in the same area. Discussions and assignments will be more likely to address local standards and issues. In courses offered by "CO-RMPBS," all participants, as well as the facilitator, will be from Colorado.
Registration Information
Registration Fees
PBS TeacherLine is currently subsidized by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. This grant allows us to offer the courses at the reduced price of $199 (discounted from $350).
This fee may be paid by an individual teacher, school or district. Districts may use Title I or Title II funds to cover the cost of TeacherLine registration. District technology and other professional development funds may also be available.
Ready to Register?
Registration deadlines are one day after the course start date.
For teachers paying the registration fee themselves:
Simply browse the course catalog. Find the course you are interested in, click on its title and you will be taken to a page with an orange "Enroll" button. Clicking on this button will take you to our secure E-commerce system where you may pay by credit card online and enroll instantly.
For teachers whose registration fee will be paid by their school or district:
If you have been given a Promotional Code either by your school district or Rocky Mountain PBS, you may register online via the course catalog. Enter your code when asked for a Promotional Code. Your price will be automatically discounted.
If your school or district will be paying your registration fee, but has not set up a Promotional Code with Rocky Mountain PBS, DO NOT register online. Contact your district representative who will work with Rocky Mountain PBS to enroll you in the appropriate courses. Or, send an email to Katie Eck and provide your name, course title(s), email address, phone number and the billing information for the school or district who will be paying your registration fee.
