Come learn more about your favorite PBS station. Preserving the illustrious history of Rocky Mountain PBS is the primary task of a group of dedicated volunteers known as the "Station's Archived Memories" (SAM) Committee. Created in 2000, this volunteer committee is unique within the entire PBS system. This team of forty volunteers works daily to identify, document and preserve the history of Rocky Mountain PBS relating to volunteers, programming, community outreach and admini

strative operations. More volunteers are needed.
New volunteers are welcomed on an ongoing basis to join the group in making daily discoveries for the archives. Schedules are flexible to fit the availability of the volunteers. Volunteers work during business hours at Rocky Mountain PBS (KRMA, Denver) in the Station's Archived Memories (SAM) Office. Training and supplies are provided. The fun of volunteering for SAM includes the opportunity to make new friends, the thrill of uncovering new discoveries, the excitement of learning new skills, and the pride in knowing that you are a part of preserving the history of this community treasure known as Rocky Mountain PBS.

What do SAM volunteers do? Volunteers take photographs at special events, identify and scan current and historic photographs and memorabilia, conduct and transcribe oral history interviews of past and current Rocky Mountain PBS staff and volunteers, research historical documents, assist with data entry and preserve historical programs produced by Rocky Mountain PBS. As history is being made every day at Rocky Mountain PBS, the volunteers enjoy preserving our "fresh" as well as "historical" information. The Committee needs original copies of PROMOS from the 1970s. If you have anything to contribute to the archives (photos, memorabilia or PROMOS), please contact SAM.
