The Aiken Canyon has preserved the southern Front Range foothills
ecosystemevident in the many plants including shrublands,
tall grass, prairie meadows, pinyon juniper woodlands and mixed
coniferous woodlands. Hundreds of species of birds have been sighted
as well as black bear, gray fox, mountain lion, mule deer, Rocky
Mountain elk, spruce squirrels and tuft-eared squirrels. |
