Byways is a multimedia project that celebrates nature's beauty and
the diverse cultural heritage and recreational riches of select
Scenic and Historic Byways. |
| Five
television documentaries, a detailed Website and teacher's guides
tell of dramatic events that unfolded in the natural wonderlands
cradling these unique bywaysFrontier Pathways, Los Caminos
Antiguos, Peak to Peak, San Juan Skyway and Santa Fe Trail. To visit
a Scenic and Historic Byway is to journey through time as well as
place. |
Funding
Major funding for America's Byways was provided by State Historical
Fund grants from the Colorado Historical Society, which asks byway
travelers to protect and preserve these natural and cultural wonders.
Additional support was provided by Bonfils-Stanton Foundation /
La Plata County Historical Society; San Juan Skyway Association;
Los Caminos Antiguos Scenic and Historic Byway Association; Alamosa
Tourism Development Board; Great Sand Dunes National Monument; Cimarron
